●Profile of our Organization

 

The Classic Live for the United Nations is the non-profit organization associated with DPI/NGO has been contributing, since its founding in 1991, to better international understanding through  performing arts, universally recognized most attractive modus operandi.

 

The Classic Live for the United Nations has been performing the environment musical since 2000, in order to convey the spirit and message of the Earth Charter to all people in Japan and overseas. This activity is particularly important now at the time when the world is facing a dangerous environmental situation like a rapid pace of global warming etc. In 2002, The United Nations proclaimed the UN decade of Education for Sustainable Development, 2005-2014(DESD) and the final assessment report on the UN Decade of ESD will be launched at the 2014 World Conference on ESD in Japan.

 

The Classis Live for the United Nations is going to address the ESD issue based on the Earth Charter through our performance ‘Our Blue Planet’ to public for an endorsement of UN DESD this year.

 

Purpose of our organization

This Incorporation aims for announcing the significance of existence of UN to citizens and emphasizing the importance of life, human dignity, and environmental issues through art activities by youth. To achieve the purposes above mentioned, this Incorporation undertakes the following activities:

1.     Concert of Life  (both domestic and international)  Total number of the performances 383, Total attendance 254,900 (In March 2013)

2.     Symposium "Recognition of different cultures"  No.49  (In March 2013)

 

History of our Organization

1991    Established to support public relations activities of UN through                           international interaction, youth  foundation, and volunteers based on art
            activities / Start the Concert of Life

1992    Hold a concert at the United Nations Headquarters / Establish branch                 office in New York
1998    Establish branch offices in Paris / Freiburg
2000    Officially-approved as incorporated nonprofit organization / Change the             designation of  the Incorporation

2005    Move its office to the current address (up to the present)

 

2012    Approved as an associated NGO with DPI
